Core Instruction

A solid foundation is important to the success of any project. Learn why successful standards-based instruction starts with teaching students foundational knowledge and skills that can be built on throughout an instructional cycle.

In Core Instruction, teachers will learn to construct and implement instructional strategies that help students build foundations when learning new content. Highly effective strategies will be modeled and recommended for use when introducing new content to students. Teachers will have the opportunity to strengthen the instructional strategies they currently utilize by practicing intentional planning to monitor for evidence of the desired result. They will also uncover other strategies and criteria required to teach foundational content to reach rigorous standards.

This is a ‘hands-on’ session in which teachers will create a toolbox filled with instructional strategies, tools, and resources. Teachers will learn how to use criteria for success to identify critical content and group students as they process, elaborate, record and represent their knowledge.
